Suggested strategies for implementing 
the unit on Number Patterns and Rules.

The following guideline should be read in reference to the student recording sheets for each round of activities.

Whole Class Lessons
Student Summary and Sharing 2 Get students to work through in order and write about the activity they did at each learning centre.  For example:
- What they did!
- What they learnt!
- Sample questions
- Questions and problems they were still having

For each lesson get students to share with the class.

(Note:  This could be done at the end of each lesson for each activity.  In this case you will need to think carefully about the sharing strategy.)

Using the Computer 1 Demonstrate access and use of Excel to Graph the number patterns.
Homework:  Write about the relationship between the table of value and what they see in the graph!
Small Groups
Learning Centre 1 1 Homework:  Finish activity, supplementary sheet.
Learning Centre 2 1 Homework:  Finish activity, supplementary sheet.
Learning Centre 3 1 Homework:  Finish activity, supplementary sheet.
Learning Centre 4 1 Homework:  Finish activity, supplementary sheet.

Teacher Instruction 0 or 1 or 2 Whole class instruction of common misunderstandings.
Small Groups
Revision for the Test 1 Give time in class.  During the follow lesson(s) ensure your individual check each students work and given feedback.
As indivduals
Written Test 1 Conduct about a week after so students have time to revise and seek help.
Total lessons (min to max) 18 to 21
